Chamber Music Workshop March 16
That was terrific! Thanks to all who participated!
We can’t wait to see everyone at Alta Sierra Intermediate School on Saturday, March 16, 2024!
Students will get a good dose of sight-reading, with coaching hints on that important skill. But best of all, they will get to play amazing works from the chamber music repertoire while learning about balance, learning to cue, getting experience leading, and generally just having fun playing in a small group setting with gratifying individual responsibility for the sound they produce.
At the end of the day, from 2-3PM, we'll hold an informal recital. Parents, siblings, and friends are welcome! We will offer a sampling of music the participants have been reading over the course of the workshop.
Typical structure of the morning is to play a lot of music to try out different pieces. By mid-morning the group can settle on a piece or part of a piece to focus on beyond sight-reading. After lunch, musicians can polish their chosen 4-5-minute piece. Then they will perform in a relaxed setting—no one is expecting perfection.
We're just hoping for enthusiasm for this great genre!
